I've created this little animation using the Karmic X-splash background. Finally I have some time to work on Ubuntu related projects which has been neglected for some time. I have other small projects that I will share with you in the near future. Let me emphasize that the Karmic X-splash makeover is only a mockup!
I like the direction you're going. But I don't like the font you're using, or maybe the effect on the font. I really like the font on the current xsplash though. (No capitals)
I do have some doubts about the technical possibility of this. But if it is possible, it's really impressive. Maybe even overwhelming, but I don't mind.
But I have to say, I'd rather have a clean smooth elegant boot, than one that tries to be as impressive as possible, but doesn't provide smooth transitions.
If the throbber in the current xsplash freezes for half a second, it's not that distracting, but if the whole animation on the whole screen is freezing, than it's not what I call smooth.
Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteits nice but the render got some blotches`
ReplyDeleteSeif Sallam -> I believe that is caused by the compression. The original file is about 1 GB and looks fine.
ReplyDeleteI was going to download it... hehehe =P =P Nice idea anyway!
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty nice, but I do not like the font and font size being used for the word Ubuntu.
ReplyDeleteWhy did you choose to change the ubuntu font? It seems quite unlikely that would actually happen...
ReplyDeleteomg! i never expected this, I'm speechless!
ReplyDeleteI really like this. What software did you use for animation. Do you think its not going to slow down the startup?

Nonetheless, great work!
Yup pretty much what everyone else is saying, looks pretty cool but I would change the font to the Ubuntu logo font
ReplyDeleteFantastic, i think that it's perfect to be the base to create a first boot video for Ubuntu, just like the one on OSX. What do you think ?
